Party time!
Well hello
Today was Maisie's 11th birthday party (it's her actual birthday tomorrow) and now I need some rest! It was at our local bowling alley in Orpington, and, apart from being SO loud and girly, it was worth the money.
The kids got a game of bowling, dinner and drink, ice cream, gift bags and a bowling medal. The food was pretty good and came in quite large portions, the table had been decorated well with balloons on each of the chairs, and the medals were not bad quality!
The girls did well at the bowling, but did spend most of the time taking pictures of themselves on their phones rather than playing! But they all seemed to have fun. Leanne (bestie) and I spent the majority of the time being amused by one of the girls who just seemed to drop the ball onto the alley, and then just walk off and not even see what pins she knocked down.....ironically, she came 2nd!
They have another branch of the same bowling alley, take a look here.
So after opening presents, trying to tear balloons from the chairs and squeezing into a tiny lift, we are home and now enjoying watching Elf :) Kids are in bed, chocolates may be devoured later and then some well deserved sleep.
When did you last go bowling?

Going AWOL!!!
Well hello!
It's been a few days since I did a post......whoops! I've had a mixture of laptop issues, family stuff and time going so quickly!
So, over the last few days I've.......
- Finished series 1 and 2 and the Christmas Special of Downton Abbey (I'm so addicted!)
- Started wrapping pressies :)
- Painted my nails with some nail varnish from George at Asda and loved it
- Visited my nieces school and saw Santa (my dad!)
- Had a yummy Chinese today with Mike
- Generally been eating chocolate and Christmas sweets
- Visited Aldi for the first time in ages and forgot how good it is!
Some of these things I will go into more detail about later, but I thought I'd say why I've been AWOL for the last few days......just incase!
Hope you are having a good weekend!

Discovering Downton
Well hello
So today was pretty uneventful for me, the highlight was taking Lulu for her hair cut. Well, it wasn't so great when she heard the voice of the hair cut lady, and she shot off! Luckily she didn't go too far, but she always shakes and whimpers when I take her for a hair cut, apparently she has always done it.
Anyways, back to the main reason for this post..... Downton Abbey.
I have never seen any episodes of Downton, but always heard people talking about it, so, whilst having a look through Netflix earlier, I saw it advertised and thought I'd take a look.... and I have so say it's good so far. I'm just near the end of the episode 2 of the first series, and I'm liking it so far. The characters are good, the story lines are great and I'm looking forward to watching more over the next few weeks.
I know I haven't watched much of it yet, but I have had loads of people telling me how much they have enjoyed it, so I am looking forward to continue watching.
Without ruining the storyline for me....... have you watched Downton?

Mini trees
Well hello
Today, I spent some time making some folded trees, and I have to say, not only are they fun and easy to make, they look cute too :)
You will need some coloured paper, ideally coloured/patterned on both sides, a compass, a ruler, a pencil, scissors and glue.
You then want to fold at the point so the straight edges meet. Make sure it is in line.
Next you want to fold the top layer over on itself (the right hand side in the above picture) and so that the edges meet again.
Then, flip it over and fold the straight side over to meet the other one, fold into place, turn over and you should have something that looks like this....
I then glued each layer to the one below to make them flat. I then folded the paper the opposite way to alternate the layers of paper - as you can see from the pictures, my paper had a white back. So I did this with two different patterns to make 4 styles of trees...
I haven't quite decided what to do with these yet, maybe put them in my front door window, or hang them on the tree, but I just enjoyed making them!
Have you made anything you are proud of recently?

You will need some coloured paper, ideally coloured/patterned on both sides, a compass, a ruler, a pencil, scissors and glue.
So you want to start by drawing a circle of 0.5cm diameter (so compass set for 5.25cm) on the paper, then cut this out. Next, you need to cut the circle in half, so i put two edged of the circle together, then just pinch the ends to mark where the middle is. Then join up the creases with a line using the ruler and pencil.
Then, once you have cut along the line, measure along the straight edge and mark at 3.4cm.
Next you want to fold the top layer over on itself (the right hand side in the above picture) and so that the edges meet again.

Mascara worth the money...
Well hello
Today is the second day of December, and I've spent the day at home with Mike and the kids doing housework, baking and trying to keep warm! I made some quick mince pies (recipe to follow) and for dinner we had slow roast pork (total of 4 1/2 hours in the oven). So yummy :) and just what I needed to warm me up :) and I have just about enough room for a mince pie to finish off.
So the other day I was in Poundland looking at their make-up as I've bought a few things from there now and been pleasantly surprised with how good they are for £1! So today's blog is a review on the Chit Chat Lash Building Mascara in black.

So, as I said previously, this is from Poundland, so cost me £1 :) and i have to say, it's amazing! It's a standard spoolie brush, not too big, but a decent size, which seemed to go onto my lashes with ease. I did not need to use my separate lash comb, and there were no clumps. I have worn it a few times over the last week and it has made my lashes look great. I usually apply 2-3 coats depending on the look I am going for, but it definitely builds your lashes, which is what it is advertised as.
Anyway, I would highly recommend this as a daily mascara, I love it!
Have you tried an of the make-up from Poundland?

Festive day
Well hello
Happy first day of December!! I was so excited this morning -maybe more than the kids - to open up the first window on my advent calendar! The best part about the build up to Christmas is the knowledge that everyday, you get to start your morning with a piece of chocolate :) We even got a calendar for Lulu, so she gets a treat too, only fair.
So I started the day with a little shopping trip to get some breakfast bits and chocolates for my extra special advent calendar which Mike made me the first Christmas we were together - I'll do a post showing you that next week - its amazing!
Then I couldn't wait any longer......I had to start decorating! I got Mike to get the bits down from the loft and I was away! I got the tree up, all the decorations ready, and then I began! I've stuck with the same colour theme as last year.....silver and purple, which are my favourite colours, and also cheaper as I didn't need to buy anymore!
Then we spent the evening with Mike's family for a pre-Christmas party. Lots of food, chatting and cracker pulling, which unfortunately meant bad cracker joke telling!
So a nice Chrsitmassy themed day, the first of many!
Have you started decorating yet?
