Five Question Friday - Kim

Well hello

Hope you are all having a great week. It's nearly the weekend, so you know what time it is here at Stuffy Stuff...........It's Five Question Friday time! This week I got to ask questions to the lovely Kim @ Call Me Kim.

1. What was the last piece of clothing you bought?
It was my star dress from ASOS, I love it! It's such a cute little dress, perfect for dressing or down for the Summer!

2. What 3 words would you use to describe your style?
I'd like to say feminine, simple and affordable.  Whilst I love looking at blogs such as My Arched Eyebrow and Pocket Rocket, I don't think I could pull off a kitsch look - I'm much more about the simplicity and feminine qualities of an outfit. I like to feel pretty and womanly!

3. If you had £1000 to spend on any item, what would it be?
It's got to be some plane tickets and a purse full of foreign currency.  I love to travel and explore, anywhere I haven't been to and has great sites.  When we went to Rome, my partner and I spent the whole day walking and taking in the sites, sourcing little cafes and gelato stands to indulge our bellies and then sinking into little wine bars later at night.  Life is all about new experiences and living it to the full, my wanderlust is huge!
We're planning a trip to Turkey next year for an over the top, 5 star, luxury holiday and then an American trip the year after (currently thinking San Francisco, New York and LA).

4. What beauty product could you not live without?
Other than deodorant? (No one likes a stinky...)
My mascara, I make the most of my long lashes and boost them with Mac Zoom Lash mascara.  It tastes my eyes from sleepy to POW!

5. What is your favourite film and why?
Ooooo... tough!
I'm more of a series girl, I love getting my historical dramas sky plus-ed on the box ready for a night in with the boy (The Tudors, The Borgias, Game of Thrones, etc.) or if I'm feeling edgy then some psychological thriller series.

If I had to say a film, then it would be either My Name Is Khan.  I was never a big Bollywood fan, too much singing and dancing around for me, but my friend Kiran recommended this one to me and I cried my eyes out.  It's such a touching story about love, discrimination, forgiveness and positivity.  If you've never watched a Bollywood movie then I'd recommend this.

Some great answers from Kim :) I love the ASOS star dress! Brilliant for the summer, which I hope we have at some point this year!
A massive thanks to Kim for taking part this week, and if you haven't done already, check out her blog Call Me Kim

See you next week for more questions with another lovely blogger :)

Doing some learning!

Well hello

Today I wanted to share with you what I did on Monday evening.

I attend a mums group on a Monday evening for a couple of hours. We talk about our weeks, problems, fun things and just get to have a general chit chat with friends - no husbands and no children! We also have the lovely added extra of a lady that comes in to give us reflexology and Indian Head Massages for free :) It is a great atmosphere and I always come out feeling really good.

So this week, the organisers of the group arranged for a lady to come in and teach us some basic Paediatric First Aid. A couple of us had mentioned that we would love to learn some, and the ladies didn't disappoint!

We were greeted by a lady called Danielle who owns ABC Life Support. Here is a little blurb from their website about who they are and what they do...

'ABC Life Support LTD is a Social Enterprise organisation which provides exclusively designed paediatric first aid training for parents, carers and those people working in a number of child orientated professions.
ABC Life Support pledges to provide you with courses that are specific to your needs. They are affordable, personable and you can expect a truly unique experience.'

We had a 2 hour paediatric first aid session, and I found it soooo helpful! We learnt about the basics of first aid for children. We worked from scenarios to start with, imagining that we were at the scene. but the child wasn't ours. That was really good as it made you think about what you would do. I was pleased that I could make a plan in my head, and it was pretty much right! The rest of the evening went so quickly! But Danielle made it so enjoyable, and I came away with all this knowledge!

Please check out their website www.abclifesupport.co.uk and check out what they have on offer. You can also follow Danielle on Twitter @abclifesupport.

Poorly and busy....not a great combo

Well hello

I had a mass of things planned to do on my blog this week, I didn't seem to have much on. But it has turned out to be the opposite! I was busy yesterday with dog walking, shopping, then visiting my parents to give them anniversary/father's day cards, then came home and didn't feel very well :( Then had a first aid course in the evening, which was really helpful and informative - I'll be doing a separate post on this later.

Then I woke up this morning still feeling a bit pants, and had the plan to do the school run, then home for a rest. Oh no..... I get to the school and Maria comes running up to me asking me what time I am going to see her work.............huh?? It turns out today is an open morning at the school for parents to look around and see the children's work. So I dropped Jack into Kindergarten, and then waited outside with the other parents until 9:25. I got a guided tour by one of Maria's friends, then bumped into Maria in her classroom and sat down for some fun! Her class were doing some stitching for an art project and they invited the parent's in to do some....I couldn't resist!! I ended up making these beauties :)

I had a great time! I wanted to stay there all day! I was there for about 30 mins and listened to Maria tell me about the work she does and where she sits, who she sits with etc. It was really nice :) She took my pattern (on the right) and showed it to her teacher, who then decided to show it to the whole class!! I was so embarrassed! I felt like the teacher's pet! Haha.... So then I left, realising I needed to get some picnic bits for Sport's Day tomorrow, so I was off to Sainsburys!

So anyways, I got home just before 11......Then I managed to have some tea and toast, and a sit down! I need to pick up Jack at 12, then I shall have a rest :) Well I hope to anyway!

Hope you are having a good week :)

Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty Tag

Well hello

I have been tagged by the lovely Linda @ Love For Beauty to do the Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty Tag! This is what you have to do...

1. Follow and link you to the person who tagged you
2. Answer the questions on greed, wrath, gluttony, sloth, pride, lust and envy.
3. Tag as many people as you wish! But be sure to let them know!
4. Let the person who tagged you know that you did the tag by linking up in the comments.

Greed - What is your most expensive beauty item?
I don't really like to spend a great deal on beauty products, mainly because I really quite like the cheaper high street brands, But I did purchase Mac Face and Body as so many people had been raving about it.
Sloth - Which product do you neglect the most due to laziness?
Moisturiser. I've never really used any :S I'm kind of unsure which one is best to use. Bad, I know!

Wrath - Which item do you have a love/hate relationship with?
Eye Liner. I really want to wear it but I have never found a good liquid/gel that works for me.

Gluttony - What brand makes up most of your make up collection?
MUA. I do have a variety of makeup, but I have more of that in my collection. Nail varnishes, lip products and eyeshadows mainly, but I have loved everything I have bought from there.

Pride - Which product gives you the most confidence?
Concealer. As long as I have concealer on, I am fine to leave the house! I use it mainly under my eyes, and I love it makes the skin under my eyes lighter, especially when I wear my glasses, which casts a shadow on there too.

Lust - Which item is at the top of your beauty wish list?
Foundation. A good, light coverage, every day foundation. I have never got one that is right for my skin all over. I just want to even out my skin, without giving too much coverage.

Envy - Which make up product/look is great on others but not on yourself?
I really love it when a woman has lovely contoured cheeks. I can never get it right! It makes them look so tanned and accentuates their cheek bones. I think that being a larger lady, I have a round face and never seem to be able to find my cheeck bones!

My trusty black leggings from Next - They are only £9 and I have about 4 pairs of them.

A brooch. I own lots of them and I'm always on the look out for more. It doesn't matter if you are fat, slim, average, tall, short or any combination. They always 'fit'.

3. What are your 'go to' shoes for a night out?
Flat. My current favourites are from Barratts and have a gold butterfly cage over the toe.

4. What is your favourite make-up brand?
MUA. Cheap and cheerful. I don't think I've had anything I don't like or wouldn't buy again.

5. Describe your ultimate dinner party - who would you invite and what would be on the menu?
Guest list

A day in the sun....well kind of

Well hello

On Sunday, Mike and I took the kids and the dog to the Bromley Pageant. It is the world's largest one day car show and is a great day out. We took our newest car, Volvo C70 T5 convertible, to show off, but unfortunately, the weather wasn't great, so we didn't get the chance to put the roof down. But we had a good day, lots of cars to look, lots of stalls, games for kids and food vans. We met up with my in-laws and Mike's brother and his wife. We got there about 9:30 on Sunday, and left around 3pm. We were all pretty knackered - the kids and I fell asleep on the way home! We took a yummy picnic and got some donuts too - they smelt too good to resist!
The kids had a great time on the games and Jack loved the big bouncy castle and slide! The only down side was the weather.... it was supposed to be 24 degrees!! It was more like 15 and strong winds! So my outfit was a little wasted...
Dress - TU @ Sainsburys - 2 yrs ago
Cardigan - George @ Asda
Shoes - Evans

Luckily, I took a cardigan with me! But the sun showed it's face on and off, just getting through the clouds. But we had a great day, and at least it didn't rain! I really enjoyed wearing my maxi dress, I haven't really wore it outside of the house before, but it felt good :) I felt like a girl rather than being in my jeans and a top.

I'll definitely be wearing this dress again, but maybe when the sun is out!

Five Question Friday - Linda

Well hello

Welcome to Five Question Saturday.......my bad. Well, my laptop's bad! Having a few technical issues, but I still wanted to get up FQF even if it is a day late!
This week, I have been asking some questions to the lovely Linda @ Love For Beauty

1. How would you describe your style?
My style is a bit of mix of lots of different styles. I tend to go by my mood that day. So sometimes, I will be really girly and wear a nice dress and the next minute I will be wearing a band tshirt and skinny jeans. My staple piece in my wardrobe is a blazer. I have a few in different colours and I love how you can be wearing jeans and a plain top, throw the blazer on and it looks like you have made a lot more effort than you actually have, It instantly dresses any outfit up.

2. Heels or flats?
I have to be boring here and say flats. Unless it’s a night out, then I will wear heels. I walk everywhere though so I have to be in flats a lot or I would never get anywhere. Plus, I am already blessed with a good height so don’t need to wear heels daily.

3. What is your favourite way to wear your hair?
My hair feels best when it has been freshly washed and then blow dried. I’d love to stay it was a fancy up do or something more chic but I just love my hair when it is natural

4. What has been your most expensive purchase?
Make up wise it would be Dior bronzer that was £34. It wasn’t even that nice either. I have bought a house before though and that cost quite a lot!

5. What is your favourite song of all time?
I bet a lot of people struggle with this question but for me its quite easy. It’s Give It Away by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers! Rock chick a heart!

A big thank you to Linda for answering my questions this week, and I am a rock chick at heart too :) I am still really enjoying asking questions to some of the lovely bloggers out there, but I need some more to ask..... If you or a blogger you know would like to take part, please just drop me an email.

See you guys soon :)
